The Callao and Palacio de la Prensa cinemas in Madrid want to install large LED screens in the surroundings of Gran Vía to modernize their signage. A proposal that is now in the process of being processed in the Madrid City Council since it would not go against the Outdoor Advertising Ordinance.
This was announced by the general director of Coordination and Endowment of Urban Areas, María Fuster, in the last Committee on the Environment, according to Europa Press. These screens would be framed within the 'scope of spotlights and scenes on', approved by the Governing Board in April.
The idea of the City Council is to create two areas with special lighting to host film events and other cultural actions in order to enhance the activities of cinemas, theaters and performance halls.
The screens would serve to modernize the signage of these two cinemas, in the surroundings of Gran Vía and Callao, advertising the films they exhibit in addition to allowing the retransmission of events without sound or data on programming and cultural dissemination.
