Bogotá's Trade Fair District Strengthens with Hilton

All the installation of audiovisual equipment in rooms was in charge of the Rental company RLA-SAV, while the installation of the ambient audio system in all the spaces of the hotel was carried out by Videocorp.

In April 2019, the Hilton hotel chain opened the doors of its new Hilton Bogotá Corferias Hotel as part of the Corferias 2030 Development Master Plan, which aims to create a "fair and convention district" to serve the Colombian and Latin American market that would reach 1.8 hectares of event venues.

The 410-room property is located on the grounds of Corferias, next to the well-known arch located in one of the accesses to the fairgrounds. In total it has 2,229 square meters for meetings and events, between eight interactive rooms, one main and seven smaller, a small room on the executive floor, and a large terrace that offers indoor and outdoor space overlooking the mountains of the Colombian capital.

"The design of the hotel is inspired by the legend of El Dorado and the moors of the Colombian territory," says Miguel Eugene, general manager of the Hilton Bogotá Corferias, who explains that each room has a name that evokes nature, such as Laguna, Cerro, Rocío, Aire, Tierra, Agua. The main hall, Bosque, has an area of 540 square meters and approximately nine meters high, which can be divided into three independent spaces, with a total capacity for 720 people.

Likewise, the manager highlights that the foyer is a space "complementary for the realization of conferences, commercial samples and celebrations", and mentions that one of its main attractions is that "there are many spaces to sit and network during a break. An advantage of having all the rooms together is that you don't need to move people to get from one conference or talk to another," he explains.

Flexible systems to create more versatile spaces
All the installation of audiovisual equipment in rooms was in charge of the Rental company RLA-SAV, while the installation of the ambient audio system in all the spaces of the hotel was carried out by Videocorp.

Thus, in the Bosque room three projection screens are installed, one for each possible division of the space, with laser projectors of 8,000 lumens from Epson, and capacity for closed circuit television and streaming systems. As for sound systems, all rooms are equipped with Bose audio equipment and Shure microphones are used. "This room also has rigging points, but these are still pending certification," says Sara Arandia, project coordinator of RLA-SAV, operator of the hotel's audiovisual services.

The executive comments that "each room has digital signage screens next to the doors, which can be configured as the client prefers, including images or logos." It should be noted that this system was acquired directly by the hotel through a third party.

Arandia also highlights that the greatest advantage offered by this hotel to its visitors is that "everything necessary is already installed in the lounges. However, the space admits other more specialized and elaborate facilities such as the one that was made during the inauguration" of the hotel.

For this particular event, RLA-SAV carried out the assembly of 297 Absen LED screen modules, which "was not located flat but at an angle, since the purpose was to map the Hilton building", added to another mapping on the side of the room with two projectors of 12,000 Epson 4K laser lumens, and Watchout and Millumin projection systems.

A wide range of event venues
The addition of the eight rooms of the Hilton Bogotá Corferias Hotel to this area recognized as a fair sector adds to the offer of the Agora Convention Center, located a few meters from Corferias, as well as the nearby Grand Hyatt Bogotá Hotel, with RLA-SAV also operating audiovisual services in both spaces.

Specifically, Ágora Bogotá has an area of 64,883 m2 distributed over five floors, a main hall of 3,100 m2 with capacity for 4,000 attendees, as well as ten other rooms that can be divided into 18 spaces for meetings of between 100 and 2,000 people, according to its project coordinator, Daniel López.

In turn, the Grand Hyatt Hotel has an exclusive area for events with eleven meeting rooms and two rooms that can be divided into five spaces. "We have a space where we can hold any type of event, including concerts, with any type of assembly," says Daniel Cano, project coordinator for this hotel.

In this regard, Andrés López Valderrama, executive president of Corferias highlights that "the transformation of an area of the city with the integration of the Hotel with Ágora Bogotá and Corferias, is to strengthen the value chain associated with the realization of events and the potentiation of the meetings industry", added to the words of the president of Colombia, Iván Duque, who during the inauguration of the Hilton Bogotá Corferias Hotel, said that this opening boosts "a country that wants to generate more employment, attract more tourism, so that the world sees Colombia as an investment destination."
