Seel won AV Latino Contest

Although it was born from the need to promote audiovisual culture, in the 7,555 square meters of the Cinematheque there will be spaces for research, exploration and development of art and technology projects.

AVI LATIN AMERICA

On August 15, within the framework of InfoComm Mexico, the Colombian integrator Seel and the project of implementation and integration of the audiovisual infrastructure for the District Cinematheque of Bogotá were announced as the winner of the AV Latino Contest in its 2019 version.

This ambitious project has different spaces dedicated to promoting dissemination and dialogue around audiovisual development such as:

- Publicidad -

•    three (3) movie theaters
•    one (1) "black box" for the experimentation of different audiovisual disciplines
•    Creation and training laboratories
•    one (1) sound workshop
•    one (1) imaging workshop
•    one (1) early childhood room
•    one (1) teen room
•    one (1) Library specialized in cinema and audiovisual media
•    one (1) room for volume animation projects
•    one (1) gallery.

Design and implementation
For the design process, the integrator documented the client's needs in each of the spaces mentioned and a cutting-edge audiovisual proposal was developed, which would allow users to have quality audiovisual experiences. Design and documentation were made of:

•    Flow, data transmission, technology integration, digital storage management and electroacoustic designs.
•    Internal and external interconnections of the spaces that include: technological infrastructure, repository of data storage and digital information, wiring, computer security software and hardware, software and hardware of data flow, accessories, specialized lighting, design of sections, grills, projections and interconnection between equipment.
•    Electroacoustic sound adaptations with sound reinforcement and amplification system, wiring, pipes, outputs and accessories, location of equipment, internal connections and infrastructure.

Once the design process was completed, the implementation of these designs was continued, taking into account that the allocated budget contemplated the best solution in specified equipment and its integration. This is how you can see in detail the technologies applied by spaces as follows:

Movie theaters:
For the 3 cinemas, a "TMS" (Theatre Management System) system was provided from which the content of the cinema servers resident in each projector is managed. From this system you can create playlists of movies, as well as automation for each room; perform both the ingestion of content to the servers, as well as the monitoring of the status of the projector and servers. This system is of great help to projectionists, since from a single place they can manage the DCP content of the 3 rooms and load the agenda of the films.
    ◦ Movie theaters have 4K laser projectors, two of them high contrast and 7.1 sound systems
    ◦ In addition to this, audio and video distribution systems were installed in all movie theaters, in order to use the same spaces for conferences and forums.

Multifunctional Room:
In the experimental room (Room E) of the Cinematheque of Bogotá, a superior operation grid was built from which it would be possible to install audio, video or lighting equipment that would allow the space to work for different events, such as exhibitions, galas, forums and in the near future a fourth cinema room with a retractable stand. This grid has its respective signal infrastructure for the connection of these resources; as well as allowing the installation of scenography or elements for permanent exhibitions.

Creation and training laboratories:
In these laboratories, audio, video and control systems were installed, which allow users to have a high-quality audiovisual experience. It has equipment such as audio reinforcement systems, audio and video connection boxes, routing systems, interactive systems, possibility of connection for BYOD equipment, among others.

Room for early childhood and adolescence:
It allows children of these ages to approach technology and audiovisual resources. In order to achieve this purpose, interactive, projection and audio reinforcement equipment was installed to facilitate the learning and audiovisual experimentation of the new generations.

BECMA:
In the Specialized Library of Cinema and Audiovisual Media there is a consultation room for video material, which consists of 12 individual display stations, where the content players are concentrated in a single space, however users have control over their own content according to their needs; In addition, this room has the possibility of becoming an open space where all stations can see the same centralized content. For this, an RF control system was installed, where the control of each user (who are located at a remote point) exclusively controls their own player.

Gallery:
In this space 4 mobile Truss type structures (with motorized winches) were installed, along with their distribution of audio, video, energy and lighting control signals. These structures allow the space to have the versatility to install audiovisual resources throughout the space with a variable height, according to the needs of each audiovisual project presented there.

The audiovisual infrastructure of the gallery has automatic mixers, video routing matrix by HDbT, relay bank for lighting, among other resources, which allow flexible audiovisual installations with the possibility of generating one or more independent spaces, both physically and audiovisually.

Entertainment room:
This room for volume animation projects, has a grill for the support and connection of cameras and / or lighting equipment; in addition to an electrical, video and sound distribution that allow the socialization of the projects executed in the workstations.

"The integration of all the aforementioned resources meant the synergy and interaction of all spaces with the possibility of functioning independently or integrally. This is how the challenge of interconnecting all the cinemas was the main premise of the integration of the Cinematheque of Bogotá", explained the directors of Seel.

On the day of the inauguration, the main event held in the "Sala Capital" was broadcast in cinemas 2 and 3, in addition to an LED screen in a circulation area located two levels below, thanks to the flexibility of the systems; the main video signal came from a PTZ camera production system installed in the Capital Room and the audio signal from the main audio mixer program in that room.

In addition to these resources, video recording and streaming equipment was installed that allows to keep track of the events that happen in the spaces, as well as to transmit them to the web in case it is required.

"Visitors to the Cinematheque of Bogotá have a unique space for experimentation for all ages, where they can have the ideal technological resources necessary for learning, training, development and enjoyment of local, national and international audiovisual content; and that these resources are of high quality, with cutting-edge technologies. We are sure that this center for audiovisual arts will play an important role in the development of the audiovisual culture of the country and the region," concluded the directors of Seel.
