With a Bose Professional sound system, integrated by We Tech, Rock & Feller's Unicenter restaurant in Buenos Aires offers a gastronomic experience set to energetic music
Bose Professional
The Rock & Feller's restaurant chain has several locations in the Argentine cities of Rosario and Buenos Aires. Its concept combines a variety of gastronomy and cocktails in an attractively designed space, inspired by the most representative artists and bands of rock and roll.
Music is a fundamental part of this experience that has the motto "the exquisite side of rock", so its owners invest in audiovisual systems of the best quality so that customers can enjoy a pleasant high-intensity atmosphere.
Rock & Feller's Unicenter, located in the shopping center of the same name, in the northern part of the Buenos Aires metropolitan area, is a clear example of the emphasis that his team places on audio and video technology. For this venue, inaugurated in March 2024, We Tech's audiovisual systems specialists designed a discreet solution with Bose Professional technology (available in Argentina through the wholesaler Etercor) that offers warm, clear and powerful sound, covering all its spaces with flexible, simple and intuitive operation.
Nine hundred meters of ambience with the best AV experience
Patrons who come to Rock & Feller's Unicenter, for breakfast, dinner or a cocktail, are met with a large space decorated with dozens of electric guitars suspended from the ceiling, multiple screens playing music videos, a large collection of colorful costumes of rock legends, gold and platinum records, photographs and hundreds of memorabilia objects to remember figures such as Elvis, Janis, Freddy, Mick, Tina, John and Paul, among many others.
Its 900 square meters are divided into three main areas: the lounge and the gallery, with a combined capacity of 600 people, and a VIP area with capacity for 60 people. In each of these spaces, the We Tech team encountered specific acoustic challenges that added to the request to provide a homogeneous sound experience and make the installed speakers practically imperceptible to the naked eye.
Patricio Bertato, Director of Engineering at We Tech, and his team made an in-depth study of the space and carried out a simulation of the system using Bose Professional's Modeler software for acoustic analysis and design. With the information obtained, they determined that each area of the restaurant received an acoustic treatment with EcoAcustic PET panels to reduce reverberation time and improve sound clarity. In addition, they determined the number and models of the loudspeakers and visualized their distribution in the space of the premises.
Fully integrated with Bose Professional equipment and software, the system consists of 45 FreeSpace ceiling speakers and 14 FreeSpace subwoofers distributed in eight zones, achieving uniform coverage, clear sound and the depth of bass that music requires to generate an energetic listening experience. A PowerMatch PM8500N power amplifier is used to amplify the audio and manage signal processing, which ensures quality and allows adjustments to be made according to needs.
The system configuration, carried out with the ControlSpace Designer application, allows parameter control in eight independent zones (gallery, entrance, lounge, bathrooms, balcony, VIP lounge, Subwoofer 1 and Subwoofer 2) and audio signal management (two PCs, a TV set-top box, a microphone and an additional HDMI input in the VIP area for presentations).
For their daily operation, Rock & Feller's staff use a simple application where they can control the volume level by zones or select the available audio sources. This intuitive visual tool, designed by We Tech with ControlSpace Remote Builder software, is accessible from a PC screen. For example, simply select one of the presets to switch from ambient music to listening to audio from the TV set-top box and enjoying the narration of a football match in the VIP lounge.
"We chose Bose Professional technology for its quality, reliability and flexibility, which are essential features to meet the demands of a project like Rock & Feller's. Its products offer excellent performance in complex environments and allow precise control in each area of the premises, adapting to the acoustic needs of each space," says Patricio Etchegaray, Commercial Director of We Tech.
A delicacy for the senses
The videos and music are curated by Rock & Feller's content programming team, whose members make a weekly selection in which they seek the perfect balance between rock, pop and soul rhythms.
The creator of the concept and owner of the Rock & Fellers brand, Argentine businessman Guillermo "Willy" Fernández, explains that music is a fundamental element in the restaurant experience. "Not only does it complement the setting, but it's an essential part of our identity as a brand. We want each customer to feel the energy and authenticity that our style transmits, and the audio system helps to create that unique and memorable atmosphere on each visit," he points out.
The quality and synchronization of the playback of the videos that are displayed on the 66 screens installed throughout the premises was also the responsibility of We Tech. To do this, they implemented a high-definition quality IP (Internet Protocol) video distribution system, in which the use of Liberty IPEX 2000 encoders and decoders stands out.
The flexibility of the audiovisual system and access to different sources allows the programming to be modified to satisfy the interest of the public when a sporting event of great importance occurs, such as the matches of the Argentine soccer team, which are displayed on all screens.
The first anniversary arrives at a good paceAfter the first year of operation of Rock & Feller's Unicenter, the evaluation of the audiovisual system is very positive. Customers point out that they enjoy the food in a very pleasant atmosphere, the music sounds at the ideal level according to the day and time, so they choose to visit the restaurant more frequently and more and more people are part of this loyal audience. For their part, Rock & Feller's staff is pleased with managing a reliable system that requires no more than a few minutes of attention, allowing them to focus on serving diners.
"We are very satisfied with the solution integrated by We Tech. From design to installation, the audio system has exceeded our expectations in quality and functionality. The attention to detail and the ability to adapt technology to our needs have been key to achieving the unique atmosphere we were looking for at Rock & Feller's. Without a doubt, having this technology and the support of We Tech has been an important step to elevate the experience of our customers," concludes Willy Fernández.
Projects such as Rock & Feller's demonstrate that investment in the design and integration of a high-quality audio system can deliver tangible and significant benefits for businesses in the restaurant sector.
