Colombia. From the sale of 50 telephone devices to what is today the Telephone Company of Bogotá in 1896, to being a protagonist in the most revolutionary innovation of the last decade, with the development of mobile broadband in the country, it is indisputable that Ericsson has been accompanying the transformation of Colombians in different aspects of their lives.
Immersed in a world in which innovation has no limits, where we transform ideas into realities, we visualize a Colombia in which its society is fully connected, not only people, major cities, or remote places in the country, but also all industries. For what?, to make Colombian society better.
With the installation of super broadband highways, the Government in the last five years has given a strong push to connect all the remote places in the country with significant success. In this context, the main challenge ahead is to bring technology and communication to the population and all sectors, so that they can use it and benefit from it.
This is how Ericsson will continue to be an enabler for traditional connections, but also for those that are already revolutionizing the industry: connecting machines, transport and even trees. We will continue to connect education, medical services, facilitate product marketing, crop and machinery monitoring, with people located in different parts of the world, making transportation a smart service, advancing the media industry and countless important changes that are already just around the corner.
I have been proud to belong to this company for 41 years, four decades living the evolution of technology and its small and large transformations in people and society. I see with happiness how connectivity has brought families closer together, developed businesses and indisputably improved the quality of life of children, young people, adults and the elderly. I can only tell you that the biggest changes are yet to come and Ericsson Colombia will be the protagonist of these transformative movements: Welcome to the Connected Society.
