Colombia. Bigvideo, a Colombian rental & staging company, has just acquired four Christie HS Series 1DLP technology projectors for its rental fleet. These are the first laser phosphor projectors to arrive in Colombia for the event rental market.
"We decided to acquire this laser phosphor equipment after attending a demonstration at Christie's offices in California and observing its resolution, light power and above all the quality in color," explains Joaquín Darío Gutiérrez, general manager of Bigvideo. "The implementation of BoldColor in these projectors makes the big difference, in addition to an eye-catching price for machines of this level," he adds.
Gutierrez refers to the BoldColor technology developed by Christie that, thanks to a combination of laser light source, optics and software, allows the HS Series to produce excellent colors and exceptional reproduction, thus solving the color balance problems that traditionally affected laser phosphorus.
Specifically, Bigvideo acquired four units of the Christie D13WU-HS model, a projector of 13,500 ISO lumens and WUXGA resolution. These projectors are among the brightest in the world in their mode, as well as the most affordable in the industry at this level of brightness. They are also extremely quiet (40dB) and also incorporate a 3X speed color wheel.
But in addition, the HS Series has 360-degree orientation capability, as well as the possibility of projecting vertically with color coupling and stacking, blending and advanced warping software as standard. In fact, Gutiérrez especially highlights the possibility of mounting the projectors in twin-stack configuration to add light power and have 25,000 lumens.
And he adds: "They also offer a great facility in blending since the 1DLP technology greatly facilitates the adjustment and overlapping of the projectors when each one is part of a great image. In fact, the main use we will give them will be in projects that require blending, such as widescreens, domes, indoor mapping projections, etc."
The manager of Bigvideo also emphasizes the laser phosphor lighting of the HS Series projectors: "The fact that they have a 20,000-hour life operation at a single cost is a great advantage for us who are dedicated to rental. I would also highlight the size and weight of the equipment that allows great agility in assembly, as well as HDBaseT connectivity that allows servers to be away without any risk of signal drop."
