ISE. The HDBaseT Alliance announced the development of an extension of the HDBaseT standard to support IP through the HDBaseT specification, and address the changing needs of the audiovisual sector.
HDBaseT over IP expands the current capabilities of existing HDBaseT solutions today. It brings several benefits such as:
- The availability of a standardized solution over Ethernet PHY, promoting interoperability between different 5Play providers;
- Connecting the traditional and IP ProAV worlds, while leveraging existing facilities;
- Greater versatility to integrate different products, from the room, point-to-point on a large scale, cross-installations;
- ProAV quality robustness and quality of service for unicast and multicast sessions, not yet available in alternative AV over IP solutions today;
- HDCP compliance.
The introduction of HDBaseT via an Ethernet PHY is a key element in achieving the Alliance's goal of providing a comprehensive approach to all use cases and market sectors, simplifying the transmission of high-performance content over any medium.
"HDBaseT over IP brings unprecedented modularity and breadth of scope to existing HDBaseT solutions available today. Whether it's via 10G, 5G, 2.5G, or even 1G Ethernet PHY, HDBaseT over IP expands the scope of possibilities for AV professionals. The Alliance continues to serve the changing demands of our industry," said Micha Risling, Chair of the HDBaseT Marketing Alliance Committee.
