Chile. Audio-pro is one of the most prominent companies that supply audio systems for live music events in Chile. Last year they decided to offer large-scale concerts. "For this we had to buy a speaker system and chose K1 from L-Acoustics, for its friendliness, sound quality and longevity. We knew it would be a good investment," said the company's owner, Jorge Diez.
Ordered in December, Audio-pro's L-Acoustics system, the first of its kind in Chile, consists of 48 K1, 24 K1-SB submarines, 36 K2, 24 KS28 subs, along with 18 LA-RACK II, each with three LA12 X amplifiers, and four ARCS WiFo. The first benefit of the K1 media was to be able to take over the supply of the sound system of the main stage of Lollapalooza, where Metallica, Cage The Elephant, Rancid, We Are The Grand, Jimmy Eat World and Two Door Cinema Clubb appeared.
Audio-pro had already supplied the sound system for Lollapalooza's third largest stage. This year, based on their trusting relationship with the festival, and the renown of the L-Acoustics K1 system, they were able to increase their competitions at the event.
"We were involved with Lollapalooza Chile Festival for the last four years. When Lotus, the technical producers of the festival, heard about the arrival of our K1 system, they said 'We want it for the Festival', jorge commented .
Audio-pro was again contracted to supply this year's third stage, but with its new K1 system, it was also able to take over the main stage.
"This meant that we did two of the three most important stages of Lollapalloza Chile," says Jorge. "Without a doubt, the power of K1 is a very positive point for a festival of this magnitude and we are very grateful for the trust that Lotus, the promoters of the festival, put into our company."
With over 140,000 people in attendance, this is the largest crowd in the festival's history and meant the main stage system needed to cover a very large area. With the help of Alex Soto, L-Acoustics application engineer for Latin America and the Caribbean, and using Soundvision to help with the design, the Audio-Pro team was able to design a system that would provide perfect coverage for the entire arena.
"This was a big challenge as we needed to cover up to 220 meters deep and 170 meters wide," Alex explained. "To achieve this, we had a configuration comprising 28 K1 with six K2s as downfills, plus 12 K1-SB in shooting configuration. The side legs were 20 K1 plus four K2s as downfills, with ten K1SBs, again in the shot configuration."
In addition to helping with the design of the system for Lollapalooza and being present throughout the festival, Alex trained the Audio-pro team of engineers, ensuring that they will get the best out of their system for all the events they use it at in Chile and beyond.
"This was the first project with our new L-Acoustics system and the band engineers were very happy with our service and our new equipment. I am confident that this purchase will position Audio-pro as a major player in the competitive sound reinforcement industry and that we will win new customers for that," jorge concluded.
