Mexico. Ikusi presented in Yucatan, Mexico, the pioneering project "Mérida Urban Lab", which consists of a Smart City solution for the increase of urban quality and the improvement in the economic development of the area that encloses the emblematic markets of San Benito and Lucas Gálvez, with the support of the technology of Spider Urban Management Platform of Ikusi.
The presentation of this project was in charge of the mayor, María Dolores Fritz Sierra; the director of the Department of Information Technologies, Rodrigo Solís Pasos; and the Director of Urban Solutions of Ikusi, Álvaro Porcuna de la Rosa.
This project is developed by Ikusi, in conjunction with Cisco, and coordinated by the Information Technology Department of the Mérida City Council, an agreement that was achieved during the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona in 2016. It consists of the implementation of cameras and air quality and noise sensors, which will provide data to be analyzed in a platform that monitors in real time the situation of the streets.
The implementation of this system will help to know the number of people and vehicles that circulate around the markets, detect the presence of greenhouse gases, luminosity and volume of noise, in addition to obtaining a forecast of weather and vehicular traffic thanks to reports from the National Weather Service and Google.
This project seeks to improve the urban quality of public services with alerts on situations of high traffic congestion, the optimization of security with the reinforcement of preventive police units, and the increase in visits in the area that are expected to generate a favorable impact on the economy of local businesses.
