Panasonic will only use lasers in high-brightness projectors

Latin America. With the cessation of the manufacture of the PT-DZ21K projector range, Panasonic has announced that its entire range of high-brightness projectors will incorporate laser technology, which allows savings in maintenance and provides greater reliability in the rental and staging market.

The DZ21K series, scheduled to be retired next spring, was a major novelty in the 20,000 lumen projector sector and changed the world of projection. Originally designed for the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games in London, they highlighted the potential of the rental and staging market.

In addition, these projectors contributed to Panasonic gaining an 80% market share in its category, a figure it still maintains today. These are devices that stand out because they measure and weigh 50% less than other products in their category.

Notably, they were used to make projection mappings during the Bucharest 555 celebrations in 2014, in which 104 units were used, and obtained the Guinness World Record for mapping with projection, in which 142 units were used at the Circle of Lights festival in Moscow in 2015.

In line with these innovations, Panasonic introduced its first laser platform in 2014 and, at ISE 2017, its most representative laser projector, the PT-RZ21K, with the same brightness level of 20,000 lumens in the original compact housing of the DZ21K model.

Hermetically sealed laser modules allow the RZ21K to deliver uninterrupted projection of up to 20,000 hours. This results in greater reliability and color uniformity for rental companies, reducing the need for maintenance and total cost of ownership.

From the moment of their presentation, the RZ21K projectors have been a reference model in the rental market and projections in large spaces, and were used to illuminate the Eiffel Tower at the 'Japonismes 2018' festival, where the 160th anniversary of the Franco-Japanese friendship was celebrated. In addition, six RZ21K models were used for the show 'Guidizio Universale. Michelangelo and the Secrets of the Sistine Chapel', which allowed the audience to enjoy a 270-degree projection showcasing the artist's famous works in the Sistine Chapel.

The PT-DZ21K projector will cease production in March 2019, while the PT-RZ21K is already on sale.
