Panduit unveils technology trends in the industry

Latin America. In the framework of the twentieth anniversary of the Global Systems Integrators Congress (GSIC), the Information Technology (IT) and Operation Technologies (OT) infrastructure event, which on this occasion brought together more than 750 attendees, Panduit announced the main technology trends that in 2019 will be applied to the industry in Mexico and Latin America.

"Latin America is a region that is characterized by quickly adopting new technologies and staying at the forefront, which is why for 2019 we expect a growth of four times the Gross Domestic Product of each country. All the socio-political movements that are being experienced are a strong growth opportunity for companies focused on infrastructure and technology." Aseguro Kaleb Ávila Director for Latin America of the Network Infrastructure area of Panduit.

The main trends for the industry are:
Big data.
For years past we have heard about big data, but it is a reality that until very recently the information was not used, during the following years companies will begin to take greater advantage of all this information. The Internet of Things (IoT) allows us to collect large amounts of data that are and will be used for the development of analysis in order to have a faster and more effective reaction, which will allow the industry to offer a better experience for users, etc.

Certified data centers. All the information that is collected needs to be stored and processed in increasingly efficient data centers. In the following years we will see that the need to have certified Data Centers will be a trend in both the private and government sectors, since the importance of taking care of the information and avoiding failures in its processing will acquire greater relevance.

Edge Computing. Hand in hand with the storage and processing of high amounts of information, there is a need for the processes with which it is analyzed and circulated, to be fast and efficient. Industry 4.0 and smart cities require that information moves at high speed, in order to yield conclusions and response commands in milliseconds to generate specific actions, which is why in the following years edge computing will be a trend, as it allows the data produced by devices connected via IoT to be processed at high speed, with Data Centers close to the place of generation.

Increased government investment. Connectivity, fast data transfer, storage and management of information are increasingly important and relevant in the government sector, so it is expected that in the coming years more investments will be made in this area to achieve an effective digital migration of government entities, which has the potential to streamline processes by up to 50%

5G networks. The new generation of mobile broadband, executed through antennas, with a much higher speed, in addition to a notable decrease in latency time which implies real-time data transmission.

Finally, the event provided an overview of the growth of the Latin American network infrastructure and Information Technology industry, since of the total attendees, 40 percent corresponded to Latin American countries such as Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Argentina, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Peru, among others; who shared experiences and expectations of the sector at the regional level.

On the other hand, it allowed to give an account of the areas with the greatest growth in digitalization of the industry in Mexico, among which stand out: The Bajío corridor, Monterrey, State of Mexico, Guadalajara, Tijuana and Ciudad Juárez. While in Colombia it was located to Bogotá, Medellín, Cali, Barranquilla and Cartagena. The Latin American countries with the highest growth in digitalization of the industry, according to Panduit estimates, are: Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Brazil and the Dominican Republic.
