Colombia. The Hilton hotel chain opened the doors of its new Hilton Bogotá Corferias hotel on April 4 , 2019 as part of the Corferias 2030 project, which aims to create a "fair and convention district" to serve the Colombian and Latin American market, adding 2,229 m² between the eight rooms and the foyer for conferences, trade shows and celebrations.
"The design of the hotel is inspired by the well-known legend of El Dorado and the moors of the Colombian territory," says Miguel Eugene, General Manager of the Hilton Bogotá Corferias, who explains that each room has a name that evokes nature. The main hall, Bosque, has an area of 540 m² and capacity for 720 people, which can be divided into three independent spaces.
In turn, Sara Arandia, project coordinator for the hotel of the Rental company RLA-SAV, explains that all the rooms have integrated Bose audio systems, and Shure microphones. In particular, the main hall has "Epson laser projectors of 8,000 lumens and capacity for closed circuit television and streaming systems," he points out, adding that the hotel has "the advantage that everything necessary for a large event is already installed in the room. However, the space also admits more elaborate installations such as the one we saw at the inauguration" that took place on April 9 of this year.
For this particular event, RLA-SAV carried out the assembly of 297 Absen LED screen modules that "were not located flat but at an angle, since the purpose was to map the Hilton building", added to another mapping on the side of the room with two projectors of 12,000 Epson 4K laser lumens, and Watchout and Millumin projection systems.
With the opening of this hotel, located on the grounds of Corferias, the offer of space for events and conventions is complemented by the 410 rooms for executive accommodation. Andrés López Valderrama, president of the Fairs Corporation, highlights that the 41,000 m² of the Hilton are added to the 360,000 m² of Corferias and the nearby Ágora Bogotá Convention Center, with 42,000 m², for a total of 1.8 hectares of fairgrounds.
