New perspective for energy infrastructure

eaton

Latin America. The time when it was enough to safely receive electrical energy from the commercial network to the charging centers of buildings, factories or houses, is history, today this is no longer enough. Eaton is actively involved in the energy transition with smart energy management and optimization solutions for data center facilities, utilities, smart buildings, industry and even homes.

The energy transition is driven by the progressive replacement of carbon-based fuels with renewable resources. In the next 15 years, half of the world's electricity will come from clean energy. That means more and more businesses, communities and households will be able to produce, consume and distribute surplus energy. In this new ecosystem energy flows through the power grid in more directions and through more devices than ever before, this decentralization is changing the way energy should be managed, stored and distributed across sectors.

"At Eaton we have taken the Everthing as a Grid approach to the energy transition and are ushering in a low-carbon energy future. We have helped our customers safely add more renewable energy, with storage, monitoring and distribution solutions, so that they have a more sustainable and resilient infrastructure, while reducing energy costs," said Enrique Chávez, Chief Operating Officer of Eaton CPDI Mexico.

What is Everything as a Grid?
This 2022, Eaton's primary goal is to help businesses, communities and utilities become aware of the limitless possibilities offered by flexible, smart and renewable energy. With the company's expertise in electric infrastructure, vehicle electrification and digital solutions, the Everything as a Grid approach is designed to optimize existing infrastructure, integrate renewables, offset rising energy costs and support a low-carbon energy future for all.

What drives the need to have an Everything as a Grid environment?
Rising electricity demand, and the decentralization of electricity supply is changing the energy status quo around the world. The old centralized power supply model is just that: old. Distributed energy resources, such as solar installations and energy storage, have become a priority. The installed base of energy storage is expected to increase 13-fold by 2030.

The assets behind the electricity consumption meter create a more dynamic grid with bidirectional energy flow and the potential for many entities to produce, consume and distribute energy, as well as leaving open the possibility of selling the surplus energy.
