Genelec provides the latest in monitoring with Aural-ID

genelec

Latin America. Genelec now has Aural-ID technology available in plug-in format for DAW. In addition to implementing new functionalities, the new Aural ID plug-in easily integrates into all professional workflows, providing a more accurate, reliable and fully customized headphone listening experience, from stereo to immersive.

Using a simple video shot sent by the user through the Aural ID Creator app, Genelec analyzes the way in which the user's head, outer ear and upper body affect and color the audio that arrives in all directions. This effect is totally unique in each person and is called HRTF (Head-Related Transfer Function). Aural ID's cloud-based calculation engine models from the video the characteristics of the user's own head and upper torso to calculate their personal HRTF, and this information allows accurately rendering the audio in any direction with the Aural ID plug-in, which is available in VST formats, AAX and AU to be easily integrated into any DAW.

Intended primarily for professionals working in music, film, broadcast, gaming audio design and academic research, Aural ID is, unlike generic HRFTs, unique in its ability to deliver a personalized and comprehensive headset experience. In addition, Aural ID enables headphone listening with a natural sense of image that is inspired by monitoring with in-room speakers, enabling more reliable headphone mixing decisions than ever before. For professionals working in different environments, remotely, Aural ID is a godsend.

One of the novelties in the plug-in version of the Aural ID is the ability to compensate for the sound coloration that any headset adds. There are two ways to achieve this, the first and most accurate using an individually tuned equalizer for a list of specified headphone models within the plug-in. The second is based on a generalized response mode that supports any professional headset model.

The Aural ID plug-in also allows genelec SAM monitor users to import calibration files directly from the GLM control software. This helps the user replicate the response of their room monitoring system, generating a complete Genelec monitoring ecosystem with a more natural and satisfying connection between personalized room monitoring and headphones. This connection is further enhanced with the plug-in's ability to create and store a virtual model of the user's room monitoring setting, allowing functions such as "solo" and "mute" of any virtual monitor in an intuitive way. Users can also make fine adjustments to the spatial location of the virtual monitor, level alignment, orientation of the listener in azimuth and elevation, and a total equalization of the system.

The Aural ID plug-in is available directly from Genelec's Cloud platform through a subscription service, which gives continuous access to updates, future Aural-ID features and immediate access to help. Pricing options are available for both individuals and corporate and educational group licenses.
