ADJ powers its operations with solar energy

ADJ techo con matriz solar

United States. ADJ Group demonstrates its commitment to environmental sustainability by installing a solar energy system at its headquarters in Los Angeles, California. Taking advantage of the optimal sunlight conditions that this region has throughout the year, the company will be able to significantly reduce its carbon footprint.

This group, which was established in 1985 and operates globally, is a manufacturer and distributor of lighting equipment for entertainment, video and control equipment, among others. Therefore, it sees in its operation a high expenditure of electrical energy. Toby Velazquez, president of ADJ indicated that, during the pandemic, he took the opportunity to analyze all possible aspects that would allow him to guarantee efficiency in his production and, at the same time, minimize his environmental impact, "it soon became clear that switching to a sustainable energy source for our headquarters in Los Angeles was the right decision, both for our company and for the environment."

Panel de energía solar en ADJ Los Ángeles

The customized solution came from the hand of REP Solar, which in addition to providing technical support, with a proposal for the design and installation of a solar array that managed to cover most of the energy needs in the building, managed to project for ADJ a substantial saving of costs in the long term.

This matrix is composed of 840 panels on the roof of the building, plus 135 panels supported by a garage-shaped structure that was built in the parking lot of the place. In general, the entire system has the capacity to generate 439 KW of electricity, which translates into an approximate annual production of 689,231 kWh. For most of the year, due to the weather conditions of Los Angeles, this will be enough to power the entire building, which will offset the production of 923,570 pounds of carbon annually, which is equivalent to 13,785 trees cleaning the air for a year.

This 'solar roof' covers the energy demand of the company's central administration, R&D and marketing departments, export sales office and distribution center serving the entire U.S., the West Coast showroom, as well as a warehouse. It is important to keep in mind that, due to the promise of quality, ADJ uses a process where in the control line each accessory, or product, is reviewed for an extended period to verify possible failures, a matter that, added to its high production rate, generates a fairly high energy bill.

Finally, the new solar power system features two car charging stations, to help encourage the adoption of electric vehicles within the company.
