Mexico. Between December 13 and 25, a fun temporary theme park was held in Guadalajara in which the public lived the Christmas traditions through several attractions that resulted in an immersive experience.
Navidalia was the name of this new experience produced by the Mexican company AlteaCorp, in which nine Panasonic projectors, including the new PT-RQ50K of 50 thousand lumens, served to give color, texture and movement to the scenarios in which the public is the protagonist.
Thanks to the use of projection technology, lighting and robotic systems, in combination with music and gastronomy, during the holidays, Navidalia came to life to welcome its visitors and invite them to enjoy Christmas in its four main attractions: Posada Mexicana, Nordic World, European World and Middle Eastern World. This concept was added to other productions of interactive experiences that AlteaCorp successfully created in the capital of Jalisco, the GDLUZ Festival and Calaverandia, in which it has also relied on Panasonic projection technology for the production of spectacular videomappings.
Marcos Jiménez Monroy, CEO of AlteaCorp, explained that Navidalia is a clear example of the production capabilities of his company, since all the creative development, content generation, scenographic elements, lighting design and videomapping, operation and even the commercialization of the theme park were the responsibility of his experienced work team.
50 thousand lumens give brightness to Christmas
Inside the European World attraction, they created a space inspired by the Cathedral of Notre Dame, in which the musical show Canticorum was presented, which narrated a story accompanied by Christmas carols. A choral ensemble, orchestra and more than 30 actors were shown in front of the large stage of 30 x 9 meters, located in the middle of the artificial lake of the park. This stage, the façade of the cathedral, became a huge canvas on which a piece of videomapping composed of 14 different scenes was projected.
For this projection, Panasonic proposed to use three pieces of equipment from its line of laser projectors for large enclosures. Two PT-RZ31K projectors with 3-Chip DLP technology and 31 thousand lumens, and the powerful PT-RQ50K, the newest model of the Japanese company, which offers 50 thousand lumens of brightness, native 4K resolution and a compact design that facilitates its transportation, assembly in any position of 360º and operation. This production was the first in Mexico to use the PT-RQ50K model that was presented a few months ago at the ISE and InfoComm fairs.
The videomapping and music of Canticorum had four daily functions, with the capacity to receive an estimated audience of 1,500 spectators in each of them.
"I don't want gold, nor do I want silver..."
In Navidalia you could not miss a traditional Mexican Inn, so the creatives of AlteaCorp conceptualized a Magical Town full of lanterns, piñatas, handmade spheres, fritters and punch to brighten the nights.
A traditional giant piñata, 18 meters in diameter from end to end, was filled with color thanks to the projection of a piece of videmapping and an attractive lighting design. At the end of each performance, the audience was surprised by a shower of sweets coming out of the piñata with the help of a robotic arm system developed by AlteaCorp. To "paint" the Magic Town and give movement to the piñata, two Panasonic projectors model PT-RZ21K of 21 thousand lumens were used.
In the same space, children and adults enjoyed sliding down a huge slide, 12 meters high and 8 meters high, adorned by another piece of videomapping projected with four PT-RZ970 models, 10 thousand lumens of brilliance, also from Panasonic.
"We decided to work with Panasonic because, when comparing its performance with other brands, we realize that it offers us everything we need: good service, technical support and high projection technology, with the necessary power to create the scenarios we are looking for. In addition, their operation is very comfortable because they are small and easy to transport and install," said Marcos Jiménez Monroy.
In the other two spaces, Navidalia offered the contrast of the white landscapes of the Nordic World, in which visitors could ice skate and walk among the snow (ingeniously created with cornstarch); with the color of the Middle Eastern World in which they highlighted an impressive Nativity, with figures of more than 7 meters high, and a relaxing walk on the lake of the park.
On Panasonic projectors, the AlteaCorp executive added: "They meet all the technical, technological and service requirements we need for world-class production like the one we have. In addition, they have a wide variety of lenses, ideal for different shots of different distances, "he concludes.
