Latin America. Cisco announced major enhancements to Webex to collaborate, including: Security and compliance capabilities, intelligent and functional insights to deliver consistent user experiences, and an integration with Box.
In addition, integration with Epic for Healthcare will give patients options to communicate with providers critical to their well-being. In April, Webex supported 500 million meeting participants, which generated 25 billion meeting minutes, more than triple the average volume.
Highlights:
More capacity: Webex has become a lifeline for hospitals, federal governments, higher education, and businesses large and small. To meet demand and continue to deliver the quality our users expect, we have made immense investments in global capacity; in fact, we are now running the Webex platform at triple the previous capacity.
More security: The global rise of remote work has made security and privacy more important than ever. As the world's largest enterprise security provider, Cisco is committed to security, privacy and transparency. That's why 95 percent of Fortune 500 companies rely on Cisco's collaboration. Building on the security capabilities designed on the Webex platform, we have extended data loss prevention (DLP) retention, legal retention, and eDiscovery to Webex meetings.
This provides an unprecedented level of security and protection for all meeting content: Recordings, transcripts, action items, and highlights. This is another industry-leading security offering for Webex meetings. We are also expanding our end-to-end encryption options, to include AES 256 Bit encryption with GCM mode, providing greater protection for meeting data and resistance against tampering.
– New means to manage a larger remote workforce and the return to the office.
According to our new CIO survey, CIO Perspectives 2020, more than two-thirds of CIOs say IT complexity is a vital challenge, as they continue to navigate through these difficult times. Frequently asked questions include:
"How can we best support remote workers?" and "How do we make sure we create a safer meeting environment in the office?" To help IT teams with these questions, Cisco's Webex Control Center provides intelligent, actionable insights that enable IT to manage all collaborative workloads through a single dashboard, whether workers are at home or in the office. COVID-19 use cases for the Control Center include:
– Instantly deploy Webex Assistant, the voice assistant technology, to conference room devices. The Control Center makes this a simple task, even if you have tens of thousands of devices. This will minimize the number of times people touch the screen or touchpad in shared spaces.
– Leverage deep knowledge about the use of meeting rooms to influence not only freeing up schedules, but also how a company plans future office layout. Easily identify the most commonly used rooms and use this data to inform free schedules or rethink how to configure meeting spaces to better meet needs.
– Thoroughly examine data from "real-time meetings" to improve problem-solving experiences and also to understand the changing patterns of work styles throughout the transition back to the office.
Analyze usage trends to prioritize the services and devices an organization should invest in.
– Easily troubleshoot and support remote workers, so teams remain productive.
In addition, today we're adding a cloud-connected UC feature to the Control Center, simplifying IT workflows for hybrid deployments and extended Webex Calling analytics. Read about them here.
In addition, to help you get work done smoothly from wherever you are, we've now integrated Webex Teams with Box, the leading cloud content management platform used by 68 percent of Fortune 500 companies and nearly 100,000 companies worldwide. Of course, Webex Teams already has a very secure and easy-to-use file sharing capability built in, but now customers can choose to use Box, as well as any of the other platforms we integrate with.
- Easier telehealth for patients and providers by integrating with Epic
Telehealth has quickly become mainstream, allowing doctors to pay attention to patients while practicing physical distancing. The new integration with Epic electronic health record software allows providers to use Webex equipment to conduct a video visit with a patient, review medical history and update clinical documentation. Patients don't need to download anything, they simply start a high-security session through a web browser and get the care they need. More than 250 million patients have a current electronic record with Epic. Other Cisco partners are also building and deploying telehealth applications and solutions, helping physicians provide care to patients around the world.
