Uruguay. In 2023, the dynamics of AV projects in Uruguay have changed compared to the previous year. While, in the last two years, during the pandemic, the government was the largest buyer, today it took a setback and it is pharmaceutical laboratories and multinationals who are most demanding solutions. This was stated in conversation with AVI Latin America Jorge Biatturi, director of Vision Direct.
He added that the main trends are "Large displays and audio are the movements we expect to see in 2023 in our market. Software solutions for the generation of recurring business is the following, such as digital signage, room reservation, videoconferencing, among others. "
On the behavior of the industry in his country, Jorge Biatturi indicated that 2023 did not start with the business force of 2022, where all the projects of classrooms and hybrid rooms were still a boom after the pandemic. It started with a smaller budget, and greater uncertainty. "We have fewer projects worth less than $5,000, and more projects above $15,000, but they don't meet 2022 expectations in dollars."
To this panorama, it is added that the shortage of equipment that was experienced in 2022 still persists. "Although to a lesser extent, the low availability of equipment is still present. For our company it was not a problem, we solved all the problems with good strategies, and we took advantage of the situation."
Finally, the director of Vision Direct stressed that at InfoComm Show 2023 he expects to find products that are not yet commodity, "because to the extent that the AV product falls into a commodity, it goes to the IT market, we lose margin and business, which then return with problems that we must solve in old customers, but with few funds, and fewer tools, as well as being able to find an AV business line that allows us to continue making a difference with the IT market."
