Latin America. Sony's new integrated 4K digital cinema projection system has successfully passed the tests in accordance with the specifications established by the Digital Cinema Initiatives, DCI, and is included in the list of approved equipment published by the DCI on its website.
The accreditation granted by the DCI corresponds to Sony's "integrated projection systems", which are formed by Sony's revolutionary 4K projector, capable of reproducing images with 8.85 million pixels of resolution (four times more than the 2K format), and a fully integrated Media Block that is responsible for managing digital content with maximum security.
This system, reference SRX R515P, provides images with high quality 4K resolution and the highest contrast ratio on the market (8000:1), and is designed to also respond to the needs of showrooms with small screens or those in which it is necessary to convert the projection in 35 mm to the digital projection.
The conformity tests have been carried out through the Research Institute for Media and Digital Content at Keio University in Japan, an institution authorized by the DCI to carry out the tests. These consist of two parts, a procedural test aimed at checking whether the devices work exactly as stipulated in the INN specification and a design evaluation that verifies whether the safety of the device meets the requirements established by the specification.
DCI is a partnership of companies formed by six Hollywood studios including the Walt Disney Company, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Inc., 20th Century Fox, Paramount Pictures Corporation, Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. and Universal Studios Inc.
