International. Definitely, the massification of the offer of televisions under Oled technology will occur much faster than some expect. LG's announcement a few days ago to concentrate on manufacturing Oled TVs, is now joined by Panasonic.
The company announced that it will stop making plasma TVs and decrease LCDs from next year, arguing that this segment became an inefficient market, especially in Japan, where the sale of flat-screen TVs is falling.
And it is that in terms of sales expectations for the company are not encouraging. While in 2009 the TV business meant sales of almost 8,200 million euros, they expect that by 2015 there will be a 50% reduction in this figure.
This decision did not take the market by surprise, because a couple of years ago the company had let research and develop plasma models and the same fate will run the LCD, so it plans to buy from other manufacturers the screens for their devices of this type.
Their focus will be the development of Oled screens, a technology they have been working on for a few years. Hopefully this will help so that the cost to the final consumer also has a rapid downward trend.
