International. As an innovative technology in terms of energy efficiency and with benefits in fuel consumption in vehicles, the European Commission certified the LED headlight technology that the Audi company developed for its vehicles.
After the investigation carried out by the test bench, it was concluded that the Audi lights allow savings in the emission of CO2 that reaches one gram per kilometer. It was also identified that these lights consume 80 watts compared to lights for halogen cars, which are at 135 watts.
For the evaluations of the test bench, the Audi A6 was used in ten Nedc cycles, with this it was possible to verify the saving of CO2 emissions and thus achieve the certification, in which the advantages of safety and comfort were also highlighted by having a color temperature that resembles the daytime, avoiding eye fatigue in the drivers.
The certification is a recognition of almost 10 years of innovation in lighting from Audi, which began in 2004 with the daytime running lights and in 2008 introduced to the market the R8 model that brought for the first time a vehicle with full LED headlights.
Today its technology is complemented by a module for all-weather and cornering lights, as well as a guide light for daytime running lights, side lights and turn signals, even LEDs are designed to withstand the entire life of the vehicle without losing intensity.
