Latin America. The proliferation of enterprise data centers that concentrate, process and store data in the cloud, public and private, are a growing need for any company that wants to grow. But they also generate a challenge in terms of savings.
Currently, all firms seek to save, not only by recycling waste materials and water, but also by studying how to operate infrastructures that are efficient and consume less electricity.
Carlos Perea, Vice President of Sales of Extreme Networks, explained that "the new labor challenges have raised the level of multimedia data that is stored and sent among the workers of the companies. This causes surplus expenses to be generated if the appropriate technology is not used in information management. These circumstances make firms stop saving more than 8,000 dollars for excessive electricity consumption."
Data from the consulting firm IDC indicate that 90% of the energy expenditure of an enterprise network is consumed by inefficient chillers, servers and switches, and very low-performance computers. "For every dollar invested in powering a data center, two dollars are spent on cooling it," says Francisco Villarreal, director of Systems and Engineering Solutions at Extreme Networks.
Therefore, new solutions and infrastructures translate into lower expenses, less processing time and greater benefit from the money saved and invested in other areas.
One of the main solutions is to install an adequate network infrastructure that allows sharing, sending and storing data securely from any physical or virtual point of the company or institution, using computers or mobile devices.
