International. Two important news items have been released in recent days concerning two well-known TV manufacturers. The first was Toshiba, which announced that after a restructuring process it will stop selling its screens in Latin America, remaining only in the markets of Brazil and Mexico.
According to the information released by the company, this is a decision among a set of measures among which are to close two of its three international television manufacturing plants, among which Indonesia, Poland and China stand out and the dismissal of 50% of its employees in this segment.
In order to meet the currently required production, the work with contractors will go from 40% to 70%. In this way, Toshina's TV sales will go to Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
For its part, the company Panasonic announced that it will stop producing televisions under plasma technology from the first quarter of 2014, as part of a plan by the company to eradicate the businesses in which it is weak.
According to the latest figures, the sale of its televisions has fallen by 20% during the last year. To fulfill this purpose, the company expects that by January at the latest it will have been able to sell the TV manufacturing plant in Amagasaki, Japan, which it had opened 13 years ago.
