International. Until January 20, GE Lighting will have open the call to participate in its 31st annual GE Edison Awards contest, which recognizes excellence and quality in professional lighting projects that use GE Lighting products.
This year, the old registration process via hard copy has been replaced by a website. The competition is open to professional designers, architects, engineers and consultants, for projects completed during the years 2012 and 2013. The possibility of submitting works completed during the last two years is a new criterion that seeks to expand the scope of the contest.
Online registrations are judged on the criteria of functional excellence, architectural compatibility, effective use of state-of-the-art lighting products and techniques, appropriate color, shape and texture disclosure, energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Projects that achieve the highest number of points will qualify to receive Merit Awards or Excellence Awards. The winner of the GE Edison Award is selected from among the projects nominated for Excellence Awards. In addition to these distinctions, a Residential Lighting Award is also awarded, using the same criteria as for the rest of the categories.
The Environmental Project Award gives special recognition to projects that minimize energy use, maximize the use of natural lighting, control light pollution, and ensure system durability and ease of maintenance.
All qualifying participants will be invited to an awards ceremony, which will take place on Monday, June 2, 2014, in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, the night before the opening of LightFair International.
The identity of the 31st GE Edison Annual Award Winner will be announced at the awards ceremony. The winner will receive a personalized Steuben crystal trophy and continuous advertising throughout the following year. A distinctive plaque will also be presented to the owner of the winning facility.
