International. The HDBaseT Alliance and IEEE today announced that HDBaseT Specifications 1.1.0 and 2.0 have been approved by the IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA) as part of the organization's portfolio. The HDBaseT standard will become the IEEE 1911 standard, once the adoption process is complete.
HDBaseT enables all-in-one transmission of ultra-high definition video over a single Cat6 100m/328ft cable, delivering uncompressed 4K video, audio, USB, Ethernet, control signals, and up to 100 watts of power. HDBaseT simplifies cabling, improves ease of use, and accelerates the deployment of ultra-high definition connectivity solutions.
LAN infrastructure and power transmission also help reduce and simplify installation and electrical costs. "IEEE is dedicated to offering robust open standards that serve as catalysts for continuous technology and market innovation. The IEEE's adoption of HDBaseT technology through its consensus-based process will help advance the shift to ultra-high-definition connectivity," said Konstantinos Karachalios, Managing Director, IEEE-SA.
"This collaboration with the IEEE is an important milestone for HDBaseT and for the Alliance, IEEE is one of the world's leading standards organizations. IEEE adoption will help enhance the impact and influence of HDBaseT in today's connected world. We will work together to further develop HDBaseT technology for the benefit of HDBaseT's huge constituency," said Ariel Sobelman, President, HDBaseT Alliance.
The HDBaseT Alliance will continue to offer its members the HDBaseT brand and certification necessary for the commercialization of the technology.
