International. Russound announced a new product feature designed to dramatically reduce unauthorized online sales of Russound products while ensuring consumers receive the benefits of working with professionally certified installation.
"Unauthorized online sales are an issue for manufacturers and installation specialists who want to make sure our customers are getting the best performance and value from our products," said Charlie Porritt, CEO, Russound.
He added that "The new Russound Certification Installer program is a simple and very effective procedure to ensure that only a certified Russound installer can activate one of our new drivers. It's our way of protecting both distributors and consumers."
Russound's certification program goes into effect with the launch of the company's new line of multi-zone controllers (MCA-66, MCA-88 and MCA-88x) and with additional products added from the company, coming to market. In all cases, the products will be shipped "locked", and require a certified Russound professional installer to unlock them over the internet.
The products are tracked through unique identification numbers that will be paired with the installers who performed the installations. Customer information is not entered or shared as part of the process.
The program is open to Russound installers who purchase company products through all authorized sales channels, either through a distribution partner or direct distributor.
