International. Sennheiser has released three video tutorials that explain everything about its new AVX wireless microphone system for cameras. Multi-award-winning videographer Geert Verdickt explains the essentials, offering invaluable tips from his extensive experience in filmmaking and teaching.
Video 1: Trust your ears (and not the metric ones)
Quick and easy: Geert's first video shows how easily the AVX camera's small receiver connects to the camcorder or DSLR and explains the receiver's (few) buttons. Once turned on, the receiver and microphone transmitter will automatically sync, so all you need to do is pair the audio level from the AVX to the camera. Once the overall sound has been adjusted, AVX can deal with any differences in sound change and ensures the right levels for your audio recordings.
Video 2: Which microphone to choose and how to put it to work in the best way?
The second video provides a multitude of tips on the management of AVX microphones and on choosing the best microphone for the application you have at hand. From the differences between the two available lavalier microphones, to the correct position of the microphone and how to combat the sound of the wind – Geert vividly demonstrates how users can create audio quality.
Video 3: Batteries, pairing and range
The battery is an important factor in the location work. Geert explains the operating time that can be expected from the equipment, how to check the battery status, and how to recharge the lithium-ion battery via a USB (and while in operation). Viewers can watch a demonstration of the AVX's automatic on/off function with cameras that provide Phantom power, learn how to identify paired units, and pair a receiver with a new transmitter. And, in the end but no less important, Geert gives an interesting demonstration of the scope of the system in a typical Belgian farm...
