Mexico. Nothing about the historic capital state of Zacatecas is ordinary: the varied architecture of its pink quarry buildings, its winding streets that climb to the hill of La Bufa, or the majestic beauty of its baroque cathedral, places of tourist interest of the city that surpass the imagination of the visitor. Even a modern structure such as a vehicular bridge that is integrated into the landscape of this city named by UNESCO "Cultural Heritage of Humanity", acquires a special aura thanks to a collection of luminaires for outdoor use ILUMILINE and LUMIPANEL of the Iluminarc de Chauvet division.
The imposing overpass recently built and crossing part of the city skyline with a length of 300 meters, has quickly become a landmark for the residents of Zacatecas. With the intention of providing the structure of the bridge with an aesthetic aspect that harmonizes with its surroundings, the Government of the State of Zacatecas entrusted the task to Iluminación Versatile SA de CV, of Xalapa, Veracruz, to create a lighting design under the supervision of the project of Eng. Luis Amaro Ramírez, who has great experience in installations of this nature throughout the country.
The work was carried out with a busy schedule of only five days, in which Eng. Amaro and 15 technicians installed 58 linear equipment of ILUMILINE 36 IP and 6 ILUMIPANEL 40 panels, equipped with 3-watt RGB LEDs and 30-degree optics. The ILUMILINE 36 were placed on both sides of the huge 'Y' shaped supports of the structure, while the panels were occupied to illuminate the area of the walls.
The white and shiny support columns positioned at different angles along the overpass, provide an ideal background to reflect with intensity the colorful light effects of the powerful Iluminarc equipment, carefully selected and programmed by Eng. Amaro and ranging from fresh lemon tones, soft lavender tones, intense reds, and many other vivid nuances that give the roadway the appearance of a huge tropical concrete garden.
The display of colors has taken the bridge beyond just a utilitarian need, integrating it into the fabric of life in the city. Proof of this is the way in which the bridge changes color to reflect the spirit of special dates such as national holidays, Christmas or New Year's Eve, as well as commemorative occasions to support causes such as Autism awareness and Breast Cancer Prevention.
Controlled by an XPRESS 512 plus interface and CHAUVET DJ's Remote XPRESS control, and CHAUVET Professional's DMX Data Stream signal distributors, the lighting automatically turns on and off every day from 6 pm to 2 am. During this eight-hour period, the light show delights the residents of Zacatecas, as well as the countless visitors, endorsing before all those who admire this venerable city founded in 1548, the commitment to maintain the balance between functionality and beauty.
