Latin America. Axis Communications enters the retail audio market with intelligent sound systems. The all-in-one speaker system offers amplifier, mixer, digital signal processor, streaming functionality, microphone, power supply and speaker.
"Traditional retail store sound systems typically consist of a number of different analog components that require specific audio knowledge in order to install them properly. These new products that we are bringing to market do not require audio experts to use them. They are preconfigured to be used immediately," says Francisco Ramírez, Country Manager for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.
With PoE ( Power over Ethernet) technology, only one network cable is needed to provide power and data to each computer. The units can be combined into a flexible and scalable system, it is easy to add or remove speakers in an instant. The management is versatile, it is possible to attend and control each speaker individually. By creating zones to serve a series of speakers it is possible to direct different background music, transmit live or deferred announcements, or control and change the volume of each unit individually and in parallel.
"We have driven the shift from analog to digital in the video surveillance market by making intelligent, open and secure systems. Now we're bringing this same approach to audio. For a retail store, these sound systems can not only simplify the management of ads and background music, but also contribute to unifying the atmosphere and service in different store locations," ramirez continues.
AXIS C1004-E and AXIS C2005 are long-range, high-sensitivity speakers that provide high quality ambient music playback and warnings, which can be programmed to meet any need. Background music can be played through the pre-installed AXIS Audio Player app.
Managers can create and schedule their own MP3 playlists, either from offline speaker playlists (SD card) or from audio streaming services. In addition, announcements can be programmed from pre-recorded audio files based on an event captured by a surveillance camera. The speakers incorporate SIP support that facilitates integration with voice over IP telephony systems, for example for live voice announcements.
Designed for professional use, sound systems are smart devices that with the built-in microphone, allows speakers to verify their functionality. This provides operators with peace of mind that background music or advertisements are actually listened to and that the system plays quality music throughout the day. AXIS C1004-E is splash-proof and available in black and white. On the other hand, the open ACAP platform and the VAPIX protocol validate that the equipment is tested to be functional in the future and ready for additional music streaming solutions.
