Latin America. Sony Digital Cinema 4K unveiled its next-generation prototype of 4K RGB laser projection. The high-brightness system delivers spectacular native 4K images with on-screen contrast levels that significantly exceed those of first-generation laser projectors.
With an industry-leading contrast ratio, Sony's SRX-R500 series of 4K projection solutions supports High Dynamic Range (HDR), which delivers stunning brightness in the brightest areas of the screen, as well as extended shadow details, to make cinematic presentations even more realistic.
In addition, although Sony's current SRX-R500 series high-contrast projectors support HDR, the introduction of an RGB laser light source also offers the ability to project mastered 4K HDR content with a wider color space that enriches viewers' visual experience.
The prototype of the 4K RGB laser projection system has a unique optical system that allows two images with 4K resolution to be displayed simultaneously through a single lens; in this way, viewers can enjoy more uniform and pleasing 3D images.
The solution allows 3D presentations to be displayed on existing silver screens without stains or practically without them by using low-cost disposable glasses such as those used by most commercial cinema operators.
