United States. A total of 128,000 LED luminaires are installed in the street lighting of the city of Los Angeles, California, under the BetaLED brand of Ruud Lighting.
The work, which began its replacement in 2009, is expected to be completed by 2013, when the local administration has budgeted to achieve annual savings of US $ 10 million, due to lower energy consumption and the reduction of maintenance costs.
This type of luminaire has already had several participations in large projects involving public lighting, since in 2008, in Anchorage, Alaska, they changed 4,200 HID luminaires for those of the LEDway series, that is, the same ones that are being placed in the Californian city.
The LEDway series, according to the manufacturer, consumes 50% less energy supply than the luminaires they replace, which means significant savings if it is taken into account that in addition to this, there will be no costs for labor or lamp replacement.
