International. Audi has always been characterized by its research and development in lighting for its vehicles. Now he is working on "matrix beam", what he has called the technology of the future in headlights.
As revealed by the company, the new system consists of dividing the LED light into independent sources. The diodes provide excellent illumination without the need for a mechanical oscillation system, depending on each situation, the diodes will be on, off, or dimmed, independently and separately.
Matrix beam headlights can obtain information from a camera or other sensors such as the navigation system. Thus, when the camera registers other vehicles or the illumination of villages, the new headlights specifically disconnect the corresponding partial area of the high beam, composed of several sectors.
In addition, the company is working on Adaptive Light technology, which can identify vehicles traveling in the opposite direction to autonomously switch between high light and low light.
This is combined with the MMI navigation plus, which can read the route data in advance, to activate the turning lights before reaching a junction, among other functions.
