International. Ecovisión is what the company has called Philips the project that brings together all its production plans for lighting products, and other ranges, environmentally friendly or green.
According to the company, green products are defined as those that have a better rating in at least one of the green focus areas, compared to the competition, or a product predecessor in a particular product family. The green focus areas are: energy performance, packaging, hazardous substances, weight, recycling and disposal, and lifetime reliability.
This environmentally friendly line of development includes the execution of research and development activities that contribute directly to new products or green technologies.
To measure and control the effects of this program, the company set three sustainability performance indicators, which are care, energy performance and materials.
Ecovisión's first goal was set for 2015, the year in which it must reach 500 million people affected with its new line. Then, improve the energy performance of its products, reaching 50% improvement for the same year compared to 2009.
The company explained that the main purpose of the program is to offer care to people through products that have a direct relationship in health, which is expressed in the number of people per year who benefit from those products.
