Mexico. Achieving the balance between technical solitions of artificial and natural lighting and for highlighting lighting as an artistic material, was the merit for the Arquitipo Universidad del Arte project, Unarte, to obtain the Merit Award and the Environmental Design Award.
According to information published by General Electric, the organizing company of the GE Edison Awards, the Mexican project used equipment of its brand achieving significant savings in energy consumption Among the equipment used were the Par 38 LEDs, which work with reflectors in the architectural composition.
The result was a complement between artificial and natural light, based on the standards of energy efficiency control in buildings emitted by the IESNA and ASHRAE associations.
The group of developers of the project was led by Gustavo Avilés, founder of Lighteam, a studio dedicated exclusively to the research and development of technical and academic resources for architectural lighting design. The Mexican was the only project in Latin America to receive a GE Edison Awards in its latest version.
It is not a novelty that representatives of this institution have received this recognition, because their work in this field is recognized. Even the building that serves as its headquarters uses renewable energies and has the Leed Platium certification.
