International. Delaware North, PGAV and NASA worked together on the interactive audiovisual design for the kennedy Space Center's new attraction, the AtlantisSM shuttle, which they say used the latest technology from the AV industry.
For the execution of the project, which was installed by Electrosonic, they used high-performance projectors from Projectiondesign, used in the visitors area, pre-show and various exhibition areas.
Upon entering the attraction, visitors can enjoy a multimedia pre-show that offers the historical context of the exhibitions they are about to see. The Atlantis pre-show features four F35 WQXGA video projectors, which are mixed to form an immersive experience with the content.
In addition, 16 F32 projectors, which run in 1920 x 1200 resolution and mixed in groups of four, are used to add video content for the four arcs surrounding the shuttle.
Maria Dahl Aagaard, Product Marketing Manager of Projectiondesign, said about the installation that "this is another example of how our technologies provide solutions for the operators of the attraction, which inspire to overcome the barriers of what is possible".
Launched as the new home of the historic spacecraft and telling the story of the space shuttle during its 30 years of operation, $100 million was invested in 90,000 square feet. In total it incorporated 60 interactive exhibits and audio/video simulators.
