International. Solid State Logic, announced the launch of the LMC+ Module for the modular rack platform of format 500. The LMC+ module is the new and improved version of the classic SSL Listen Mic Compressor. This processor of the SL 4000E console was the secret weapon of the sound arsenal of many producers in recording and mixing techniques during the 80s.
Originally designed to prevent overloads of the return feed of a studio communications microphone, its fixed attack and discharge curves were eminently functional for use in battery-powered ambient microphones and deliver an aggressive and distinguished tone. Beyond the fact that ambient drums are an obvious home for a LMC over time it has been used to process harmonies, guitars, parallel compression foods, and many other uses (and also abuses) have been discovered for its strong grip and quick bite.
This new version includes all the features of the original version but with a collection of new features; a pair of high pass and low pass SSL filters that allow you to focus on a specific frequency range, a side-chain of filters to the compressor and wet/dry mix control for instant parallel compression.
Two new tools that are notable additions were added to give LMC+ a distinguished sound change; the 'Scoop' phase button reverses the WET signal to give possibilities to sculpt the sound in an unusual way using the wet/dry combination control, and the 'Split' button that wraps around a band-pass subtraction mode that allows certain signal frequencies to be compressed and leave others untouched to be put back together at the output stage.
By using the 'Scoop' and 'Split' mode you can subtly add an interesting hue or completely destroy and disassemble the sound you feed it! This feature set enhances and gives the LMC+ a distinguished sonic advantage with a range of creative possibilities.
