International. Sony Digital Cinema 4K announced a new, easy-to-use dual projection solution that allows you to bring 4K image quality to larger movie theaters. The SRX-R515DS combines two Sony SRX-R515 projectors to provide a total brightness of 30,000 lumens.
This dual system provides reference lighting levels for 2D presentations on displays up to 19.5 m/64 ft for 48 cd/m2 white screen operation with 1.8 gain, or 3D presentations on displays up to 23 m/75 ft for 15.5 cd/m2 operation on silver screen with 2.4 gain (depending on installation conditions).
Viewers are immersed directly in the action thanks to the realism and richness of color and details offered by 4K. With an average contrast ratio of 8000:1, the SRX-R515DS guarantees incredible images with rich, intense blacks and radiant glows.
Native 4K resolution ensures that movies sent to theaters in 4K DCP format are projected with the highest possible image quality. Even 2K images in the format of DCP 2K, DCP 3D, or alternative content in HD are automatically optimized to a resolution of 4K pixels, now even in 3D mode.
Switching between 2D and 3D presentation is quick and easy, and doesn't require changing goals. The incorporation of static 3D filters, included as standard, in the projectors is all you need to modify the system configuration in the different projections.
Inside the SRX-R515P digital cinema projector is the high-pressure mercury (HPM) lamp array. The SRX-R515 is the world's first fully DCI-compliant 4K digital cinema projector using a six-array of high-pressure mercury (HPM) lamps, meaning that in addition to delivering spectacular image quality, cinema operators can enjoy easy maintenance and reduced operating costs.
Just as importantly, the multi-lamp matrix reduces the risk of "dark screens," which hurt revenues so much and occur as a result of lamp failures caused by using conventional xenon sources. Even if a lamp fails during a screening, the presentation continues uninterrupted with a slightly reduced brightness, without preventing viewers from continuing to enjoy the film.
The projectors of the SRX-R515DS system can be configured for "side-by-side" operation or aligned vertically, so that they adapt to any projection stand.
