Argentina. The company Sony announced that it will strengthen its production plant on Argentina's Tierra del Fuego Island with an investment that will reach US$30 million in the coming years.
The news was released by the Minister of Industry of that country, Débora Giordi, after a meeting with the company's executives, in which they notified her of the decision to start producing audio mini-components at the plant.
In addition, they will seek to strengthen their LCD and LED tv market in the region directly from Argentina, because there they already produce 100% of the domestic market for that country.
The Minister stressed that Sony is the first company to produce televisions with 3D technology in her country and that makes it the fourth in which it produces audio equipment, in addition to China, Malaysia and Brazil.
At the end of the meeting, Jorge González, president of Sony Argentina, commented that "For the company, Argentina is a key market. It is our commitment to be able to offer the customer the same variety of products and technologies available worldwide, guaranteeing the global quality standards that characterize our brand."
The company also announced that the Tierra del Fuego plant began to produce Vaio notebooks, making Argentina the third largest producer of these equipment, as they already do so in Brazil and Malaysia.
