International. The global digital signage market will go from generating about $1.3 billion in 2010 to $4.5 billion in 2016, a study by ABI Researchreported. The report, titled Digital Signage Market and Business Case Analysis, also included the gains arising from the demand for screens, media players and software, as well as the costs of installing and maintaining this type of facility.
According to abi Research researchers, the digital signage market is accelerating in terms of both the number of units installed and the total revenue generated, while installation costs are getting lower. Precisely, it is this last factor that has helped more companies to be interested in implementing systems of this type to relate to their customers.
Finally, ABI Research highlighted that most of today's digital signage installations are IP-based, with the possibility of a connection to a remote content management server that can be managed wired or wirelessly, and in some cases through a cellular network.
The above is a clear example of the evolution that this segment has undergone with respect to traditional static advertising and the number of systems involved that benefit from the increase in demand for this type of facilities, explained the study.
