Uniting to power Hi-Res Audio

International. The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) and the Japan Audio Association (JAS) announced their alliance to promote the growth of the High Resolution Audio (Hi-Res Audio or HRA) device and content market.

Specifically, the organizations have agreed to allow new consumer electronics companies to use the Hi-Res logo, developed and managed by JAS, in the promotion, advertising and marketing of their products. The CEA has also agreed to use and promote the logo to its members, including Sony Corporation.

CEA research consistently indicates a great opportunity for the growth of the Hi-Res market, given that, with four out of 10 consumers expressing moderate interest in audio, there is a clear indicator that they are willing to pay more for electronic devices with high-quality audio. Nine out of ten consumers say sound quality is the most important component of an listening experience. It has also been confirmed that audio buyers focus on quality as a determining purchasing factor and, secondly, price.

Ana Carolina Rodríguez, Personal Audio Manager of Sony Colombia, explained what high-resolution audio - Hi-Res - consists of, its differentials and the products that are compatible with it.

High Resolution Audio refers to music files with a volume of auditory information greater than the amount found on CDs. It is a format that allows you to enjoy music, just as the artists originally wanted. The music will sound with such a superior level of detail  , that it will feel as if you are live inside a musical studio or a concert.

The novelties that this technology has compared to others are that a high-resolution audio file of 192KHz / 24 bits contains approximately six times more audio information than that recorded on a standard CD. When converting live music or other analog sounds to digital format, such as CD or MP3, a significant proportion of the original audio is irreparably lost. High Resolution audio technologies allow you to retain many more details during the analog/digital conversion process, achieving a more authentic and immersive musical experience on an emotional level.
