Telemundo trusts Shure during Billboard awards

Latin America. With a program full of exceptional performances, multiple premieres and collaborations, the 2015 Billboard Latin Music Awards achieved its most watched broadcast in history. Telemundo's audio supervisor, Juan Aguila, and his team were tasked with ensuring flawless audio production, from start to finish, from the red carpet, to the main awards show, the after-party, and all the televised coverage.

In his tenth year as Audio Supervisor, Aguila approached this year's production as an experienced professional, although, as always, several new challenges presented themselves to him at the BankUnited Center. "This year's show was the biggest yet in terms of equipment needed. We had to use more microphones than we have ever needed in the past, simply because of the large number of musical acts we had to include in a three-hour show," Aguila said.

A large volume of live performances requires top-notch sound, this coupled with the radio frequency congestion that exists in the heart of Miami, made it crucial for the Aguila team to choose best-in-class wireless technology.

The performance of artists of the highest level and an audience of more than 6.4 million viewers left no margin, nor time, for unexpected technical problems. The Professional Wireless Systems (PWS) team, led by renowned wireless system experts James Stoffo and Brooks Schroeder, were also on site to control the RF spectrum and ensure flawless transmission.

To ensure crystal clear wireless vocal performance on stage, Aguila's team decided to rely on 30 channels of Shure wireless systems, which included a combination of the innovative and fail-safe Axient Wireless Management Network and UHF-R wireless technology.

Eighteen channels of Shure PSM personal systems handled all personal monitoring channels exclusively. More than 200 Shure wired microphones were also used throughout the night, including: SM microphones, BETA microphones, KSM microphones and others.
