Paraguay. With a new computer platform that includes the registration of votes, simultaneous translation and monitoring in video images of parliamentary debates, the Senate of Paraguay inaugurated the Digital Discussion System, which, through software, will provide greater dynamics and transparency to the sessions.
According to the engineers, the new equipment is at the same level as those currently used in the parliaments of Europe and the United States and will allow all the results of the plenary to be projected in real time on the flat screens installed in the front section of the parliamentary precinct.
For Alan Wood, engineer responsible for the implementation, "this system is activated through the insertion of personalized magnetic cards and allows the control of the legislators present in the room, request of the word and activation of the microphone. In addition, it includes an instant translation system, video camera tracking to the speaker on duty and audio and video storage."
In the same way, for Oscar González Daher, president of the Chamber of Senators, "this state-of-the-art technological system will bring great benefits since it will provide greater transparency to our management."
