Brazil. Nine of the 12 stadiums that will be used during the World Cup to be held in Brazil, have Philips technology for their lighting. In total, eight facades are illuminated with LEDs and five fields received lighting with high color reproduction index, which offers quality of vision and transmission.
Adding 12 matches of the tournament and with an expected attendance of more than 500 thousand people, the Arena das Dunas, Natal, Fonte Nova Stadium in Salvador, Bahia and Pantanal Arena in Cuibá are one hundred percent illuminated with Philips technology for field, façade and internal areas.
In addition to those stadiums, spaces such as Castelão in Fortaleza, Mineirão in Belo Horizonte, Arena da Baixada in Curitiba, Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro, Beira Rio in Porto Alegre and Arena Pernambuco in Recife will have Philips' advanced external lighting solutions.
For the lighting of the fields, Philips installed ArenaVision, a lighting that allows broadcasts in HDTV, 3D and replays in super slow motion of super quality and ensures that fans do not miss a detail of the match. At several sites, Philips was also responsible for the lighting of the external areas of the stadiums, such as the façade, press conference areas and other public areas, shops, hospitality rooms, changing rooms and players' tunnels.
Philips was responsible for lighting the facades of the Maracanã stadium in Rio de Janeiro. With capacity for 78,000 fans, the most famous temple of football in Brazil, the lighting project for internal and external areas of the Maracanã was initiated by Mingrone Iluminação, a company with a high level of experience in lighting projects, such as metro stations and the Pinacoteca de Sao Paulo.
Colorful and dynamic LED lighting transforms stadiums into iconic frames with possibilities to create sports decorations and enhance the experience of attending a match, such as being illuminated with the colors of competitors or by flashing their lights or changing color when a goal is scored, reflecting the internal atmosphere. In addition, these technologies can be used for other types of events, such as shows and musical shows.
The new Maracanã represents a strong commitment to sustainability, technology and safety. There are more than 20,000 luminaires of low maintenance and high useful life in synergy with the photovoltaic panels in the compression ring of the court, cabins, stands and parking. And on the roof, 480 LED projectors with RGB technology, high luminous flux and service life of more than 70 thousand hours were installed.
