International. NEC Display Solutions, Parity Aviation and Heathrow Airport have partnered to create a device that displays clear and concise messages to passengers to improve the information system, especially in cases of emergency.
While the aviation industry continues to debate how to address the growing demand for flights, airports are looking at how to improve the information shown to passengers at all times. NEC has interactive technologies that enhance the experience from check-in and security, to shopping and boarding.
NEC DS demonstrates how digital displays increase the efficiency and profitability of airports and optimize user travel using features such as mobile connectivity, Bluetooth, NFC and iBeacons in digital signage devices and smart advertising solutions.
One of the technological advances in the aviation sector is the new mobile unit (MDU), which has the NEC P553 55-inch screen with integrated OPS that receives the content via Wi-Fi and works for more than 30 hours. On the other hand, Bluetooth connectivity to an Android application allows you to unlock the system and transport the device anywhere in the airport, offering a personalized messaging service depending on the target audience.
Niel Clark, CIO of Heathrow, commented on the new product: "MDU brings together technology and innovation to deliver real business value and enhance the passenger experience. It can create a significant difference in our service in both normal and contingency operations and is another step towards the goal of offering technological art at our airport."
