Mexico. Diana Delgado is a Communications and Electronics Engineer from the University of Guadalajara and is currently Project Manager of the company Gesab, in Mexico City. She shared how her journey towards CTS certification has been.
AVIXA: Diana, what is your profession?
I am an Engineer in Communications and Electronics from the University of Guadalajara and I have a specialty in Engineering and Project Management from the Universidad Panamericana.
AVIXA: When and why did you enter the AV industry? How much do you like it?
I joined the AV industry 10 years ago, in June 2008. When I was in high school, I took my first courses in Audio Engineering for study and live sound, since I have always liked music very much and I also played in a group, so all the electronics related to this began to interest me.
Then, at the invitation of a friend, I started working for an AV integration company in Guadalajara and there I learned about video systems, lighting, home automation and everything that this industry offers. I love that there is always something new that surprises you, it is a dynamic and avant-garde industry where it is impossible for you to get bored.
AVIXA: When and why did you decide to obtain CTS Certification?
Since I learned about the CTS Certification I was always interested in getting it, but because of the workload I did not have the time to dedicate to the courses and study. Until this year I decided to take the time and prepare for the exam.
I think it's an industry differentiator worth getting if you want to compete against the best.
AVIXA: Has it changed in your work or your vision of it with the CTS? How?
Yes, it has given me the tools to improve the quality of the processes and the final result of the projects. Even in GESAB, which is the company for which I currently work, we have a quality management system certified by ISO 9001, a framework within which it is planned to integrate the AVIXA standards applicable to the audiovisual systems we offer to our customers, with the aim of documenting the entire process and guaranteeing compliance with their requirements with the best possible performance.
AVIXA: Would you recommend it? How?
Yes, I think it is a professional achievement that in addition to validating your knowledge before others stimulates you to be updated.
