Latin America. NEC introduced ALP, a business intelligence analytics platform for retailers that delivers real-time content and data measurement.
The NEC Analytics Learning Platform, ALP, combines the company's advanced video analytics with its expertise in digital signage to make retailers smarter through big data, content matching, and delivering relevant and impactful content to customers.
"With NEC ALP, we are giving retailers the ability to provide customers with a personalized experience through relevant real-time content driven by demographics such as age and location," said Richard Ventura, Vice President of Strategy for NEC Display Solutions of America. "This also provides retailers with valuable insights into the impact their content has, creating more opportunities for consumer engagement, which is invaluable in growing their business. With NEC ALP, we're helping retailers deliver the right message at the right time and right audience."
NEC Display developed an entirely new back-end architecture for the NEC ALP business intelligence platform that uses both edge and cloud computing to deliver real-time insights. By using face detection, non-identifiable demographic data, such as age and gender, is sent to a locally-based computing device, which then activates the appropriate content to be displayed.
The data is then sent to the cloud, where big data analytics will provide retailers with insights such as the impact on content sales, demographics and audience traffic, overall customer engagement, and what content generated the most positive experiences for customers.
The platform's data analytics capability gives retailers the power to deliver the right message or content to the audience as it answers questions of who the customer is and which piece of content was most successful in creating meaningful engagement. Using this data, NEC ALP can draw a direct correlation between content playback, number of impressions, and conversion rates of actual sales.
The NEC ALP system consists of hardware, software, cloud services, managed services, and big data analytics. Locally in the store, the platform consists of an edge computing device, cameras, and sensors. The system is designed with full API integration into key digital signage content management (CMS) systems, allowing you to deliver and activate content across different media player platforms. Activated content is displayed on the large or small format screens of the NEC screen.
The ALP platform was unveiled at the 25th annual NEC Display New York Partner Showcase and will be available from January 2019.
