Latin America. An effective way to raise awareness among those in need is through a benefit concert in which artists, sponsors, technical staff and a grateful audience come together in a spirit of solidarity to shed light on a noble cause.
Such was the case earlier this year when a large Elation platform was used to illuminate the 2020 edition of the charity show Noche del Sabor in Honduras, and the proceeds went towards supporting the Honduran Foundation for Children with Cancer.
Held at Expo Centro, a renowned venue in the city of San Pedro Sula, Noche del Sabor is an outdoor party that features the best musical entertainment and the best of Honduran food. Despite a bit of rain at the time of the show, nothing could appease the enthusiastic crowd of about 10,000 who gathered for the emotional evening between the sounds of Colombian musician Juanes and the pop group Piso 21.
The technical aspects of production, including lighting installation, were handled by Pro504, a renowned rental company based in San Pedro Sula whose professional team has experience in the production, design, installation and operation of large events. Pro504 works at many of Honduras' most prestigious events, including most of the big concerts, and has worked on previous editions of Noche del Sabor.
For this year's benefit, Pro504 created a large, symmetrical setup with linear layers of Elation lighting surrounding an expansive LED wallpaper with vertical displays and lighting that extends the design to both sides of the stage. Complementing the display's graphics as they penetrated through ambient light were the airborne effects of the Platinum FLX, Platinum Beam 5R Extreme and Platinum Beam 5R moving heads.
Rows of ACL 360 Bar LED moving slats, mounted on the bottom edge of the lower LED screens, filled the stage left and right as SixBar 1000 slats added color from the bottom edge of the stage. A row of SixPar Z19 IP color changers along with DTW series blinders worked from high truss positions on stage, while Protron 3K Color strobe lights added impact from various angles.
This is the fourth year that the Night of Taste takes place and the success of the event is always measured by two. Not only was it a spectacular visual gift to attendees, but most importantly, the event raised funds to provide free cancer treatment to children from low-income families across the country.
