Latin America. Cisco named Laércio Albuquerque as the new vice president for Latin America. In his new role, Laércio will lead sales in Latin America and will be responsible for supporting customers, partners and governments in accelerating their digital transformation, to achieve economic and social impact.
Laércio began his career at Cisco five years ago as Managing Director of Brazil. In that role, he focused on digital transformation and innovation across the country. Recently, Laércio launched the Digital Country – Digital and Inclusive Brazil – initiative to establish strategic alliances with local governments and key audiences and drive Cisco's mission to positively impact the lives of millions of Brazilians through cisco Networking Academy. During his tenure, Cisco Brazil was widely recognized for its inclusive and diverse culture.
"Laércio is the right leader for Cisco Latin America," said Jeff Sharritts, senior vice president of sales for Cisco Americas. "His deep focus on growth, culture and digital transformation will be critical as our customers and partners transition to recovery."
Cisco is deeply committed to Latin America with strategic investments in the region, including the ongoing Country Digital Acceleration program in Mexico, Brazil, Chile and Colombia. Cisco has been operating in the region since 1993, with about 2,500 employees and 5,700 partners.

Laércio has worked in the technology industry for nearly 35 years. Prior to Cisco, he held important leadership positions in Brazil and Latin America. He worked at CA Technologies for 20 years, holding a variety of leadership roles, including national manager in Brazil and President and Managing Director for Latin America. He is a Systems engineer and Management Analysis from the Associated Faculties of São Paulo (FASP) and has an Executive MBA from Insper.
Cisco has begun its process to appoint the country's next director for Brazil and will share the details publicly in the coming weeks.
