Latin America. Cinépolis has chosen the communication platform nsign.tv to manage its digital signage channels in all its complexes in Mexico, Brazil and part of the United States.
Cinépolis operates 862 film ensembles with 6,664 cinemas in 17 countries, ranking third in the world in number of cinemas, second in number of tickets sold and the chain that sells the most tickets per room in the world.
The operation, carried out through the integrator Stratech, the Mexican partner of nsign.tv, has supposed, in this first phase, the download and installation totally remotely of a total of 1,600 players nsign.tv in its device park of all its complexes in Mexico, Brazil and part of the United States.
The origins of this project date back to August 2020, when Cinépolis' Marketing Managers were looking for a new communication platform to manage their digital signage circuit globally, until then managed with three different CMS in their rooms in Europe, Latam and the United States.
"They put us to the test with a multitude of scenarios and we responded quickly and tangibly to everything they proposed: compatibility of our player in all the variety of their pre-existing displays, creation of custom applets integrated with their systems, synchronization of screens to create impactful effects, superimposing text to videos ... There was no request that we could not develop with our platform," recalls Germán Talón, CTO of nsign.tv.
Cinépolis needed above all a solution that would allow them to integrate the data of the billboard and the prices of the restoration areas of the cinemas automatically. The data to be displayed on the displays, whose destination was the menu boards and billboards, had to have as their origin the information of their systems, and the contents had to be able to be updated without human intervention, in a completely automated way.
This is how they introduced into their strategy the new concept of intelligent nsign.tv templates, Applets, microapps that run from a platform to change and / or update content automatically from an external source and serve to change content dynamically, saving time and production costs.
One of the developments made to measure for Cinépolis has been the integration of these APPLETS with the company's internal servers, to extract the information automatically via reading .xml files.
After evaluating several platforms, Cinépolis chose nsign.tv for the power, for the flexibility, for the ability to develop improvements, for the speed of response and for being able to count on certain functionalities that other platforms did not offer. "nsign.tv allows us to do things that the rest of the platforms had told us were impossible to do," they say from the chain.
As for the hardware, the chain uses different types of screens in its different cinemas, which translate into a diversity of displays, screen resolutions and operating systems. But none of this has been an inconvenience to deploy the platform with all the casuistries in just three weeks and with hardly any intervention from the technical team of nsign.tv or Stratech, since the client himself carried out the migration autonomously, after having been instructed in the use of the platform.
