Mexico. Mexico. G4 Audio emerged in March 2011 as an integration option for the corporate sector, after more than 15 years of experience of its founder, Margarita Reyes, in the automation market. She told AVI Latin America details of these 10 years in the market and her vision of the industry to the future.
"It was evident that this market would grow in the following years and we wanted to be there in this evolution, as was the part of videoconferencing and meeting rooms, since we lived the change from analog technology to digital and later to network-based systems. We were only 4 people who started the G4, that's why we started the G4, also because there were 4 specialties we offered: audio, video, automation and lighting, "recalled Margarita Reyes.
Own and qualified talent
For the founder of G4, one of the main challenges they had when formalizing the company was wanting to have their own and well-qualified technical team, they did not want to steal talent from other companies and copy ways of working, they wanted to form their own Team with young people from different specialties and, above all, with a passion to learn and change along with technology and industry. They also realized that the decision makers regarding technology were going to be those of IT, so they wanted to have a team that spoke the same language and way of thinking.
"We currently have a team of 15 people, in which the technical area is the strongest: there are 10 people, most of them engineers in electronics, mechatronics, networks and an architect. The Team started almost from scratch and G4 has been training them in different areas, training them both at home and with suppliers and associations such as AVIXA. Everyone who enters G4 has a basic training plan that they must do in their first year and later, according to their skills, this program is modified," he said.
He added that the evolution of the industry was very significant, given that it practically took a 180-degree turn in terms of solutions and brands. Previously, brands were very few and now there is a mosaic of options to offer wirelessly, in wiring, in automation equipment, in screens, etc., and especially in audio, because everything is now IP. Companies are now more demanding, they want a faster level of response and above all to know that they are in the right hands.
A training opportunity
For G4 the impacts of the pandemic on the industry have been significant, because most offices and corporate buildings have not been able to be used, but this has not stopped the industry, which has sought other solutions to continue supporting the industry and society such as thermal cameras, digital signage and videoconferencing solutions for Home Office and distance education.
"G4 Audio took advantage of these months to now take advantage of 100% of all the online training options that the brands we manage could offer, that internal working groups were formed to see in which areas we lacked training and what new areas could be an opportunity. For example, we knew Cisco's line of equipment very well but not Poly's, so now we got certification on these equipment as well. We also adopt a more dynamic work plan with meetings every day to see the progress of the Team and virtual presentations with our clients," said Margarita Reyes.
Finally, on the celebration of the 10 years of the company, he stressed that they changed their logo and website to focus the image on these 10 years, through which they want to show themselves as a company that advises and provides information to their clients about what they can find in the audiovisual market, to cover their needs from home or in a hybrid way, as well as to protect your staff. They have been in contact with customers seeing what solutions could be viable for these changes and, above all, they have maintained constant communication with customers using the same remote tools they promote and bring brands closer so that they can publicize their products.
"G4 Audio diversified the products we are offering and we have delivered cables, equipment and solutions at home so that customers did not have to move and counting on security equipment to avoid any contagion. Our best celebration will be to be able to share with suppliers, customers and friends the satisfaction of having reached this first stage with an increasingly strong, creative and innovative Team, which will adapt to the changes that come, since change itself is the engine of the evolution of the industry and humanity. There is still much this industry can offer and more in areas that had not previously been developed as much as distance education and healthcare. We are going for another decade for G4 Audio in which technology, artificial intelligence and distance communication will continue to evolve to communicate better, he concluded.
